Why the Middle East Peace Process Is a Farce

The Muslim regimes in the Middle East have never held any real intentions of formulating a peace process with Israel. There just isn’t any money and power in doing so. The Jewish presence is a wonderful distraction for Arab regimes to take attention away from their own corruption and incompetency. In fact, [...]

Muslim Brotherhood Begins Exerting Influence in Post-Mubarak Egypt

Energized by a early parliamentary election victory where they and other hard-line Islamist parties will make up two-thirds of Egyptian national parliament, the Muslim Brotherhood has been quick to exert its influence and newfound legitimacy. First they sent a signal to the Egyptian military (an established institutional power in Egypt) that they will decide the direction [...]

Egypt: Obama Could Be the Next Jimmy Carter

The recent bloody clashes and unrest in Egypt is merely a foretaste of what could easily occur during elections next month. The latest violence between Egypt’s Christian Copts and the army involved a protest over a whole series of church burnings and killings at the hands of Muslims — and ended with the army driving [...]

Arab Spring: Open Season On Christians

Did I hear someone say “ethnic cleansing?” First the Middle East Muslims threw out the Jews. Now that the Muslim lands are Judenrein (rid of Jews), the Muslims are coming for the Christians. Middle East Forum, September 28, 2011 Running For Their Lives by Raymond Ibrahim Historically, non-Muslims whose lands were seized by the jihad had three choices: conversion, dhimmitude, [...]

The Dead Villain Test: Separating Cause From Effect In The Islamic World

Are leaders like Osama bin Laden and Moammar Qadaffi the causes of Islamic rage against the West, or merely symptoms of a deep dysfunctionality? As we watch events unfold in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, and throughout the Islamic world, we must remain open to both possibilities. If they are the cause--as many in the Obama Administration seem to believe--then the world will be a better place as new leadership leads quickly to openness, tolerance, productivity, peace, and prosperity throughout the Islamic world. If they are merely an effect, however, the removal of these leaders, while an unquestionable good in its own right, is more likely to be but one small step in a long, hard slog.

Egypt’s Fast Deterioration To A Future Rogue State

The circumstances in Egypt should in no way, shape, or form be considered a phenomenon. That Islamism is most likely in Egypt’s future is par for the course. There simply is no other foundation, school of thought, or ideology in place to fill the void left from the disposed Mubarak government. [...]

Bill Kristol’s Hypocrisy

During the April 3rd panel discussion on Fox News Sunday, the subject of the Qur’an burning pastor from Florida, Terry Jones came up. When the Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol chimed in, he referred to Jones as a “total jackass (who) is acting without regard for the safety of our troops there. ” In the past, Kristol [...]

Why Are We So Captivated By What Is Going On In the Middle East?

Assuming among those who have followed the events in the Middle East know the likelihood of all this ending badly is probably even money at this point. Islamism is very much a part of the populace. It is organic with deep roots dating back to the 7th century and a fresh set of legs starting [...]

Two Cheers for David Cameron on Multiculturalism

I am slightly less encouraged than some commentators by British Prime Minister David Cameron’s speech on “the doctrine of state multiculturalism.”  The speech is certainly worth two cheers, and the fact that Cameron has said much of this before is no reason for him not to say it again, especially since he has never said [...]

Iran’s Growing Influence in Sudan

South Sudan is posed to become Africa’s newest country following this month’s independence vote. But Sudan’s Islamist government and its Iranian ally may not let the south break away without a fight. Just as it has done in Lebanon, Iraq, Gaza and Yemen, the Iranian regime is now expanding its influence into Sudan. [...]
