While I respect the work you are trying to accomplish, I believe that the reformation of Islam, as was done in Christianity, is beyond the realm of possibility. The change to modernity would require the extreme editing of the Koran and other holy texts of Islam. Since the Koran is considered to the uncreated and immutable word of Allah, that would amount to calling Allah a liar and Islam a sham. I do not think that is going to happen anytime in this millennium.

I challenge your position that Islam has been "hijacked". In truth the people that the media and our patheticlly ignorant government choose to call "radicals" are actually fundamentalists. They are like Christian "revivalist", calling for the return to the TRUE religion. They believe that Islam will not return to its "Golden Era" and the caliphate until the Muslims return to the true tenents of Islam, from which they have left.

Poppycock. As PM Erdogen once said" There is no moderate or immoderate Islam, Islam is Islam and that's it"

And as the Son Of Hamas recently noted: "Anyone who believes in the god of the Koran is a jihadi."

Anyone who wishes to attempt to redefine the tenants of the Koran, or hadiths is delluding only themselves. There's only one Islam.

This article is well stated and well intentioned, and I agree with the ideas being expressed. But .. .

I'm not an Islamic scholar, so I hope I am proven wrong, but from what little I do know, to remove political Islam from religious Islam would mean a rewriting of the Koran itself. And since the Koran is the word of God as dictated to Mohammad, this would mean, to be blunt, calling God a liar. I don't see how it can be done. It would be more difficult than, for example, removing the Gospel according to Luke from the Bible.

Again, those who are better informed than I am, please step in here.

I like what you have to say. It's a start. However, I find the back of mind the same niggling question that j91140 raised. I too served in the US Navy. I too took the same oath as an officer and rose to the rank of LCDR so I respect your service. However, for the same reasons as explained by the aforementioned poster I watch with a skeptical eye. I will keep an eye on your organization with hopes of seeing true positive change.

As my own faith tells me, truth is in the deeds, and a man's character is revealed by his actions. So far I've heard the words, now I would like to see the action.

Since Muslims are permitted by the Quran to lie to infidels and unbelievers by either Taqiyya – outright lying, or by kitman – lying by omission, how can you possibly expect to be believed in any article that you as a Muslim write?

Choose Christianity… for it is a choice… and you can come and go as you please.

If anyone has read anything about Islam, they know it is a religion that is trying to take over the world by force if necessary. Peaceful muslims here? Of course, because they are outnumbered. Sorry folks, I don't tolerate Islam. They are not just a spiritual enemy but a physical threat as well.

ISLAM should not be regarded as a religion in our country, nor should it have tax exempt status, due to the political activity it is involved with, not to mention the perpetuation of such flawed ideology.
