MSM Begs For Dear Life: ‘Don’t Politicize the Ground Zero Mosque’

Today Obama administration mouthpiece Mark Halperin is imploring the GOP to hold its fire on Democrats and, specifically, the president for weighing in on the side of the Ground Zero Mosque, Shariah and the disingenuous imam behind it.

In his piece “Obama’s Islamic-Center Stance: Why the GOP Shouldn’t Run Against It,” Halperin–seemingly on bended knee–writes to the GOP:

If you go full force on the offensive, every Democratic candidate in every competitive race in the country will have three choices, none of them good, when asked about the Islamic center: side with Obama and against public opinion; oppose Obama and deal with the consequences of intraparty disunity; or refuse to take a position, waffling impotently and unattractively at a crucial time.

What’s a mainstream media journalist like the co-author of Game Change (somehow omitted from Warner Todd Huston’s list of “Top Ten Most Left-Biased American Journalists“) doing writing advice columns to a political party anyway?

Where was Halperin during a hot summer of race-baiting, when the media and the Democratic party sought to demonize most of America if they oppose the Obama agenda? Was that unseemly or unfair? It certainly didn’t prompt a teary-eyed advice column for Democrats.

In addition, you’d almost be stunned at the vapidity of Halperin’s argument–he does not address any of the problems critics of the Ground Zero Mosque have on it’s merits. Well, you’d be stunned if he had addressed them.

Here at Big Peace, and many other places online, we’ve presented a multi-faceted case against the Ground Zero Mosque, Imam Rauf, the Cordoba Initiative, etc. It’s telling that so few of the mosque’s supporters–and, at around 29% of Americans, that’s an admittedly small fringe–have come to the table to actually debate.

The gauzy protestations of “our values” (always, of course, the soundbite version) should sound pretty familiar by now, as should the cries of  “Islamophobe!” and “bigot!” on MSNBC. Like the charges of racism at Tea Parties, these epithets come when they’ve lost the argument.

The good news is, we’re winning. And that’s what makes the blood rush out of Mark Halperin’s face.
